Extreme Weather Event Questionnaire Extreme Weather Event Questionnaire

You are invited to take part in a research project about attitudes and behaviours towards disaster preparedness. In this study, a disaster refers to extreme weather events such as cyclones, storms and flooding. The study is being conducted by James Cook University students' Katerina Kanakis, Nicole Grant, Monica Bignold, Erkam Apaydin, and Bradley Farrand. This project will contribute to an honours and group project for the completion of Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at James Cook University.

School Holidays Fun in Hinchinbrook

With the June/July school holidays just around the corner the Hinchinbrook Shire Council in partnership with Ingham Disability Support Service has created a jam packed school holidays program to keep everyone busy. There is a large variety of activities to suit the crafty to the adventurous, with activities starting on the 23 June and running until the 4 July.

Get Going, Get Golfing

Hinchinbrook state primary schools are going for golf at free golfing sessions run by a trainee professional golfer. The Ingham Junior Golf club have recently been successful in receiving a grant from the Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing, for their ‘Get Going' funding program. Ingham Junior Golf created a full program of activities to give juniors the chance to come and try golf and to practice regularly.

Gallery Transformed with Animated Steel

The process of transforming scrap metal into sculpture is the concept behind Christopher Trotter’s work displayed in Animated Steel an exhibition showing at TYTO Regional Art Gallery from Thursday 9 May 2013 to Saturday 15 June 2013. Animated Steel has been developed by Trotter and Artslink Queensland, and features sculptures, intricate working drawings and digital prints of works by acclaimed Boonah artist Christopher Trotter.

Australia's Biggest Morning Tea Celebrations At Council

The Hinchinbrook Shire Council and Councillors have supported the Cancer Council by holding an event for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea on Tuesday 21 May. Council employees took the opportunity to get together with workmates and enjoy a morning tea all in the name of a good cause. Councillors enjoyed a visit to the Council depot sharing a morning tea with the staff at the depot.

Hinchinbrook Shire Council, in partnership with AECOM, are working to restore public assets that have been damaged by recent natural disasters. Council is eligible for funding provided by the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) program and is committed to helping the Hinchinbrook region recover as quickly as possible.
