NAIDOC WEEK 2010 was celebrated at the Library with a very special story time. Cynthia Payne, a local indigenous elder, joined the children and their parents to tell the story of the Barramundi. The children then toured the Girringun display of paintings ceramics and fibre works with Cynthia. They then decorated hands to make a sea of hands and made a mural of Australian animals, both are on display in display the window of the Library.

The Hinchinbrook Book Club has been meeting every two months since 2008, with it's inaugural meeting held during Library and Information Week 2008. Nine participants enjoy a general discussion about the current book club book and sharing their passion for reading. Many have found they share certain reading preferences and habits - piles of books beside beds, having several books on the go at  once and many hours of lost sleep - and are happy to recommend novels to each other.  All in all we have had a wonderful beginning to the Hinchinbrook Book Club!

Members are now reading Alex Miller's "Journey to the stone country"

Readers interested in forming an evening Book Club please contact the Ingham Library and, depending on interest, serious consideration will be given to forming a second club.

Suggested rules for running a group can be found at Book Clubs and interactive groups .
