If you come into Ingham from the
south along Townsville Road and turn left down Cooper Street. You can
park in the car park on the right hand side at the end of the street.
From here walk down a track that passes to the left of the
Brothers Club and continues on to the wetland. Less than a kilometre
from the highway you enter a peaceful wildlife sanctury, that the whole
family will enjoy.
There are extensive walking tracks throughout the wetlands and
observation deck allowing you the unique opportunity to view wildlife
closely without disturbing them or their habitats. Visit on dusk to see
the owls!
Go to http://www.hinchinbrooknq.com.au/trsm_tyto.htm#Birds
or go to the Visitor's Centre (on the corner of Townsville Rd and
Lannercost St - the main street) to get a list of birds to look for and
a map of the wetlands. The local Library has bird identification books
to assist you in knowing what you are seeing.
