THE HERBERT RIVER STORY

The Hinchinbrook Shire Council using its own funds and some supplementary funds through the Q150 Community Fund Program has commissioned the writing of a history of the Herbert River district.

A local author Bianka Vidonja Balanzategui has taken on the task and together with the cover design by another local, Anthony Vardanega, there are high hopes for the book.

Our community has been sadly lacking in a readily accessible record of our history and now utilising the vast resources of the Hinchinbrook Shire Library's Local History Collection, the story will be available in single volume and very readable.

The Library has instigated the project and continues to oversee it's progress.

Dedicated to Bob Shepherd, past editor of the Herbert River Express and avid amateur historian, the book is sure to be popular. Register your 'no obligation' Expression of Interest in purchasing a copy at either Ingham or Halifax Library.
