SIMULTANEOUS STORY TIME

Good Night, Me

  Written by Andrew Daddo
  Illustrated by Emma Quay

Library staff doned their jamies to read Andrew Daddo's book Good night, me on Friday 1 September 2006 at 11:00am.

Each year The Australian Library and Information Association invites all public library services, primary and pre-school libraries, early-childhood centres and pre-schools to participate in reading a picture book simultaneously throughout the country. The aims are to:

  • promote the value of reading and literacy

  • promote the value of books

  • promote an Australian writer and publisher, and

  • promote storytime activities in public libraries around the country.

Hinchinbrook Shire Libraries have participated for the past few years and encourage local schools to do the same, it's great fun.

Story time - Wed 9am

The library offers Story Telling every Wednesday at 9am for children and their families. A wonderful time is had by all each week. Story time is usually followed by a craft activity. Parents and children come together in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. It's a great place for new parents and newcomers to the district to meet other  families. Parents - Mums and Dads - and Grandparents join in the fun as well and share the adventures that books can bring. We look forward to meeting you.

CHILDREN'S BOOK WEEK

Children from across the shire stampeded into the Ingham Library to listen to books short-listed in this year's

CHILDREN'S BOOK OF THE YEAR AWARDS

and create something wonderful in the craft sessions. Fun and laughter flowed all week.

Our thanks to all the schools and teachers who made the effort to join in and celebrate the wonderful literature that is produced for children by Australian authors.
