HAVE MOVED.....

SINCE ITS INCEPTION BOTH THE HINCHINBROOK LIBRARY WEBSITE AND THE CAN OF WORDS EZINE HAVE BEEN HOSTED BY THE STATE LIBRARY OF QUEENSLAND'S COMMUNITY WEB PUBLISHING PROJECT. WITH THE MOVE OF THIS COMMUNITY SERVICE TO CONNECTING QUEENSLAND (A QUEENSLAND INITIATIVE TO ASSIST NON-PROFIT COMMUNITY GROUPS WITH WEB PUBLICATION), THE LIBRARY DECIDED TO ACQUIRE IT'S OWN DOMAIN ADDRESS.

Children's Book Week @ Hinchinbrook Libraries.....

Groups of primary school students will be invited to the Library for Book Week activities during the week 29th Aug - 2nd Sept. (NB. This is the week following the official Children's Book Week dates.) 

Storytelling, craft activities and Book Week talks will be offered for different age groups. Read our poster for more information.

A Book to Movie competition will be conducted for secondary students. Download flyer and forms HERE.

Children's Book of the Year Awards

These annual awards are for books with an implied readership under the age of eighteen, and are presented in five categories.

The Judges assess entries for the Awards primarily for literary merit, including cohesiveness in significant literary elements; language chosen carefully for its appropriateness to the theme and style of the work with proper regard to the aesthetic qualities of language; and originality in the treatment of literary elements as they apply to the form of the work. Judges also consider quality of illustrations, book design, production, printing and binding.

  • HINCHINBROOK LIBRARY SERVICE ACKNOWLEDGED BY PLAYWRIGHT WITH THE PREMIERE OF HIS AWARD WINNING PLAY MANO NERA.
  • TALKING BOOKS ARE NOW AVAILABLE IN MP3 FORMAT. LISTEN VIA YOU COMPUTER, CD PLAYER OR MP3 PLAYER.

WAS CELEBRATED AT THE HINCHINBROOK LIBRARIES WITH GIVEAWAYS TO ANYBODY WHO SAID

 "I LOVE LIBRARIES!"

AND

STAFF WERE PROUD TO launch  THEIR new SELF-DESIGNED AND LOCALLY PRODUCED, LIBRARY T-SHIRTS (SHOWN HERE).
