Year 3 students from Forrest Beach state school retell

"Hatty and Tatty and the Polar Bear" by Joy Cowley

Hatty and Tatty in South Africa

One day Hatty and Tatty wanted an Adventure so they decided to go to South Africa. So they flew to South Africa. They wanted to see lots of animals so they went to Kruger Park. They loved it.

They had never seen so many animals in their life. They were staying there for one week, but they wanted to see one particular animal and that was a Lioness but they didn’t know what it looked like but they kept on going.

They drove for six days. A week was nearly over. One more day and then they had to go home.

But on the last day they saw lots of animals. They saw an elephant and they asked “Are you a Lioness?”

“No, I’m an elephant. I stay away from Lions.”

So they kept on going. Then they met a crocodile. They said, “Are you a Lioness?”

“No, I’m a crocodile. I stay away from Lions,” and so they kept on going. Then they met a monkey and they said,

“Are you a Lion?”

“No, I’m a monkey. I stay away from Lions,” said the monkey. So they kept on going. I wonder if we’ll see a Lioness here. They bumped into something. Then they realised that it was a Lioness and they said, “Are you a Lioness?”

Yes I am!” growled the Lioness.

Then Hatty and Tatty got the fastest plane home and then they had a nice cup of tea at home.  The end.

Hatty, Tatty and the Circus

One day Hatty said “Let’s go to the circus”.

Tatty said “That’s a good idea”.

So they travelled until they got there. They asked for a ticket to see the elephant jump the fence. He jumped so high, he reached the sky and he never came back till the 4th of July. So Hatty and Tatty went on an aeroplane to see if they could see the elephant but the elephant landed on it.

Crash! Bang! Shriek!

The elephant went sky diving in the air.

They had a safe landing…….and elephant is

still sky diving.
